TRHC Zero Tolerance Policy
TOMS RIVER HOCKEY CLUB
Zero Tolerance Policy
Revised: 3/5/2020
Overview
The Toms River Hockey Club (TRHC) has adopted a strict Zero Tolerance Policy that follows in the footsteps of the Zero Tolerance policies and rules adopted by USA Hockey, the Atlantic District (AAHA), and the New Jersey Youth Hockey League (NJYHL). Inappropriate conduct by parents, players, and other spectators has become an increasing problem in our game. To address this concern as effectively as possible, the TRHC has put a Zero Tolerance policy in place. This policy will be followed and enforced by our board members and coaching staff. This policy requires all players, coaches, officials, team officials, managers, administrators, and parents / spectators to maintain a sportsmanlike and respectful atmosphere before, during and after all our Toms River Blackhawks games.
Our TRHC Zero Tolerance policy strictly states that the use of obscene or vulgar language toward or in the presence of officials, players or coaches will not be tolerated in any form. Any taunting, threatening or disrespectful conduct toward any official, coach, or player will result in immediate suspension of said player or spectator. If any TRHC parent is ejected or asked to leave a facility, the player of that parent may also face suspension for said parents actions. Furthermore, in the event the Toms River Hockey Club is assessed any fine by the NJYHL or AAHA as a result of a parent or player’s conduct, that fine will be added to said player’s account, and become the member’s obligation to pay it.
While we might not always agree with coaches/referees or the conduct of opposing teams we must remember to conduct ourselves in a professional manner at all times and be good representatives of our hockey club, our children and our community. If any issues occur please feel free to seek out your Head Coach, Team Manager, Hockey Director or any member of the TRHC Executive Board for guidance. Any reported violation of this policy will be reviewed by our Club’s Disciplinary Committee and resulting disciplinary actions will be taken if deemed necessary.
We would also like to remind everyone that while hockey is a competitive sport, the rink is a place for children to have fun with their friends in a safe environment away from the disruptive and inappropriate behavior of spectators. Please remember to be supportive after the game, win or lose, recognize good effort, teamwork and good sportsmanship.
As mentioned above, our TRHC Zero Tolerance Policy also includes all USA Hockey, Atlantic District (AAHA), and NJYHL requirements, rules, amendments, and policies in regards to Zero Tolerance as follows:
