Toms River Hockey Club announces season information for the upcoming 2023-2024 travel hockey season

The Toms River Hockey Club has been providing a competitive ice hockey program to players in the greater Toms River and Ocean County area for over 47 years now.  Our hockey club takes great pride in its non-profit status, and will continue to offer a comprehensive and affordable “family first” hockey program for the 2023/2024 season.  As we continue to enhance and grow our program year over year, we remain committed to developing our hockey players according to guidelines set forth by USA Hockey and the Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA).  We remain committed to offering various discounts to help our club members, including 50% off tuition for full time goaltenders, and family sibling discounts (see below).

For the 2023/2024 season, we are again offering a limited travel Mite ADM Developmental program, weekly goaltending clinics, as well as the inclusion of club Skills Instructors during team practices throughout the year.  We will also provide specialized clinic sessions on team schedules during the season.  The club has been growing consistently and we are very proud to announce our tryout dates, hockey program information, and tuition structure for the 2023/2024 Toms River Blackhawks travel ice hockey season.

Our club plans to skate competitive travel hockey teams from the 8U through the 18U age levels to compete in the New Jersey Youth Hockey League (NJYHL) as well as various showcases and tournaments throughout the region.

Our popular U6/U8 Mite ADM Program will continue to be offered for the 2023/2024 hockey season.  This program puts a focus on player development and skills acquisition for the younger U6/U8 Mite players with a true 3:1 practice to game ratio over the course of the season, all in a FUN, fast paced, learning environment.  The 6U/8U Mite ADM players will have approximately 40-50 on-ice practices, participate in the AAHA Mite Jamboree, play limited games later in the season, and participate in an end of season 6U/8U tournament that is all included in tuition.  Our 6U/8U Mite ADM players will also have the opportunity to receive goaltending training at practices so they can have a chance to try out the position during the season to see if they like it. You can find all the information on our 6U/8U Mite ADM Program on our website HERE.

Our 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U travel players will get on the ice in early July for 8 weeks of Summer Skills Sessions with their respective teams.  These sessions will run once a week until the end of August.  During those eight weeks, our 10U, 12U, 14U players will also receive off-ice dryland, strength, agility and conditioning training.  Our 8 week summer training schedule is intended to minimize conflict with other sports and summer activities as recommended by USA Hockey’s American Development Model.  We encourage all of our players in our club to participate in other sports to help them become well rounded athletes.  These 10U, 12U, and 14U age level teams will also receive additional skills clinics led by our TRHC Skills Instructors and have our instructors present at team practices throughout the course of the season.  Our 10U, 12U, and 14U goaltenders will also receive weekly goaltender clinics throughout the season with our TRHC Goaltending Instructors.

Our 16U and 18U teams will start team practices and training in July to prepare for their respective short “High School friendly” NJYHL seasons.  We will also field a 16U-AA extended season team this year, which will also be “High School friendly”, but offer more games, higher level competition and exposure by playing in regional showcase events over the course of its season.  Coach Andrew Yasenchock (18U) and Coach Joey Campisano (16U) will be guiding the overall program and working with the entire 16U/18U coaching staff to implement on-ice systems, create templates for off-ice workout regiments and game preparation as well the establishment of team rules that all of our 16U/18U teams will follow.  They will be overseeing the entire program and be directly involved with all of our players at 16U/18U.

In addition to very competitive and affordable tuition, we will continue to offer a number of popular TUITION DISCOUNTS to our members.

  • GOALTENDERS - 50% OFF your season's tuition for all FULL TIME goalies from the 10U Squirt thru 16U/18U Midget levels (does NOT apply to 8U Mites).  The intent of this discount is to encourage our full time goalies to work with outside goaltending coaches, attend clinics of their choosing, and to help offset the substantial cost of equipment.  Please note that NO OTHER DISCOUNTS are applicable when a goaltender takes the 50% GOALIE DISCOUNT.

  • FAMILY DISCOUNT - Family discounts are available as follows:

    • Highest Fee Skater = Full Tuition

    • 2nd Highest Fee Skater = 20% discount

    • 3rd Highest Fee Skater = 50% discount

  • 5% DISCOUNT - 5% OFF your tuition if you pay in FULL at tryouts!!!
