TRHC COVID-19 Update and Tuition Information
2020-05-13
Toms River Hockey Club families,
Now that we’ve received guidance from the AAHA and have started to step toward a 2020-2021 travel hockey season, we wanted to take a few moments to address the recent COVID-19 pandemic.
First and foremost, the Toms River Hockey Club is a family. We are, and will always be a non-profit, family run organization and our primary concern is always the well being of our families. It might seem like a lifetime ago now, but our club had a fantastic 2019-2020 season at every age level and at that time the future of the Blackhawks looked extremely bright. Unfortunately, that excitement quickly faded as the COVID-19 pandemic spread throughout our community. We’ve all felt it in one way or another and I’m sure we all now share the same cautious optimism about a return to normalcy and a return to the sport so dear to our hearts.
We completely understand that there may be concerns about the uncertainty of this coming fall and the impact it might have on our upcoming season. We share your concerns and we’ve decided to adjust our payment schedule this season in hopes of easing any immediate financial burden while putting everyone’s mind at ease. As such, rather than requiring 50% of tuition to be paid at registration as per club policy, the Executive Board has decided to require 25% at registration this coming season. The remaining 75% will then be broken into three additional payments of 25% each. Should there be any delay or shortening of our season, all tuitions will be adjusted accordingly and those adjustments will be reflected in the third and/or fourth payment, or as necessary. In addition, the Executive Board has also decided to extend the last date by which tuition payments are due to be completed by another month in hopes that this extension will also ease any financial strain. As such, the payment schedule for Mite thru Bantam will consist of four payments of 25% beginning at registration on June 11th, and then followed by three additional payments on August 11th, October 11th and December 11th. The payment schedule for Midgets will also consist of four payments of 25% beginning at registration on June 11th, and followed by three additional payments on August 11th, September 11th and October 11th. The Toms River Hockey Club prides itself on its non-profit status and the Executive Board and the Hockey Department constantly interrogate every aspect of our operating costs. Our goal will always be to provide as comprehensive a hockey program as we can while keeping our tuition as reasonable as we can. Please know we are constantly looking for new ways to add to our existing program, offer more specialized instruction, more ice, and better overall training while keeping tuition as low as we can. We hope that these temporary changes to our payment policy will make things just a bit easier during these uncertain times.
As we move toward the 2020-2021 season, please join us in spreading the word that the Toms River Blackhawks are back and open to all. This season we will be celebrating our 45th Anniversary and hope to make it a memorable one full of great hockey and memories that will last a lifetime. As many of you have probably heard by now, the Township of Toms River has committed to continued upgrades and improvements within our outdoor facility, some of which have already been made and we will see when we return to action. The future of our club is extremely bright and we look forward to enjoying it together. Please exercise caution, please stay healthy and safe, please register and spread the word to anyone interested in joining our growing family. We look forward to seeing you all soon!
Sincerely,
The Toms River Hockey Club Executive Board
