Toms River Blackhawks teams find success at NJYHL Playoffs

Peewee B, Squirt Black, and Squirt Red compete at NJYHL Playoffs
Toms River Blackhawks Peewee B, Squirt Black, and Squirt Red teams competed in the NJYHL Playoffs at the Igloo in Mt. Laurel, NJ on February 23rd thru 25th.
All teams found success throughout the first rounds of play on Friday and Saturday, as the Squirt Black team won their semi-final game over the NJ Bandits on Friday afternoon by a score of 8-0 in the Squirt Lake Placid division. The Squirt Red team then won their semi-final game in the Squirt Turin division on Saturday morning against the Old Bridge Jr. Knights by a score of 9-0. Later that same day, Peewee B faced the Hunterdon Bears and came out on top by a score of 3-0 to advance in the Peewee B division. That resulted in all three Toms River Blackhawks teams playing in championship games on Sunday, February, 25th.
The Squirt Red started things off on Sunday against a very good NJ Devils team, but after a slow start in the first period, they were unable to sustain a comeback and lost by a score of 5-1 to take second place overall in the NJYHL Squirt Turin division. The Squirt Black team was up next and faced off against the Hunterdon Bears where an offensive outburst late in the second period helped lead them to a 10-2 victory to take the NJYHL Squirt Lake Placid championship. The Peewee B took on the Jersey Shore Wildcats White team in their championship game, and in an exciting game came out on top by a score of 4-3 to become the Peewee B champions. The Peewee B team will also advance to the USA Hockey Atlantic District Championships later in March.
