TRHC Checking Clinic run by Rich Hansen and Roger Grillo of USA Hockey!

Open to all TRHC 2007 birth year Peewees and current Bantam players. 
 

ATTENTION: 2007 Peewees and 2005/2006 Bantams

The Club has arranged to have USA Hockey staff come out and run a Body Contact and Checking Clinic for our second year (2007) Peewee players, and all our current Bantam players (2005/2006). The clinic will be held on Thursday, February 20th, from 7:30pm to 8:30pm in the indoor rink. All players should wear their TRHC practice jerseys, 2005/2006 Bantams = BLUE and 2007 Peewees = GREEN so that the age groups can be easily identified on the ice. 

The USA Hockey Body Contact and Checking Clinic will be run by Rich Hansen and Roger Grillo of USA Hockey.

Rich Hansen is USA Hockey’s ADM Regional Manager for the Atlantic and New York Districts (https://www.usahockey.com/richhansen).

Roger Grillo is USA Hockey’s Regional Manager for the American Development Model and before joining USA Hockey spent the previous 12 years (1997-2009) as head coach of Brown University’s men’s ice hockey team (https://www.usahockey.com/rogergrillo). 

From USA Hockey:

“The USA Hockey Body checking clinic will focus on the main objective of a body check, separating the player from the puck. Skills such as angling, stick on puck, and proper contact will be a priority. We will also teach players techniques on receiving a check and minimizing potential situations where an injury can occur. USA Hockey recently launched the declaration of safety, fair play, with the hope to change the culture and make our game safer. There will be an emphasis teaching the components on what this declaration deems a legal and safe body check. If there are any questions regarding the declaration or USA Hockey’s role in youth hockey we will be happy to assist.”
