Zero Tolerance Policy
The Toms River Hockey Club (TRHC) has adopted a strict Zero Tolerance Policy that mirrors the Zero Tolerance policies and rules adopted by USA Hockey and the Atlantic District (AAHA). Inappropriate conduct by parents, players, and spectators has become an increasing problem in our game and youth sports in general. To address this concern as effectively as possible, the TRHC has adopted a Zero Tolerance policy. This policy will be followed and enforced by our executive board members, coaching staff and team managers. This policy requires all players, coaches, officials, team officials, managers, administrators, parents and spectators to maintain a sportsmanlike and respectful atmosphere before, during and after all games and practices.
Our Zero Tolerance policy strictly states that the use of obscene or vulgar language toward or in the presence of officials, players or coaches will not be tolerated. Any taunting, threatening or disrespectful conduct toward any official, coach, or player will result in immediate suspension of the responsible player, parent or spectator. If any TRHC parent is ejected or asked to leave a facility, the player of that parent may face suspension for their parents conduct. Furthermore, in the event the Toms River Hockey Club is assessed any fine by the AHF or AAHA as a result of a parent or player’s conduct, that fine will be added to the appropriate player’s tuition, and become the member’s obligation to pay it.
While we might not always agree with coaches, referees or the conduct of opposing teams we must remember to conduct ourselves in a professional manner at all times and be good representatives of our club, our children, and our community. If you are witness to any inappropriate conduct during a TRHC event, please feel free to seek out your head coach, team manager, or any member of the TRHC Executive Board for guidance. Any reported violation of this policy will be reviewed by our Club’s Disciplinary Committee and resulting disciplinary actions will be taken if deemed necessary.
We would also like to remind everyone that while hockey is a competitive sport, the rink is a place for our children to have fun with their friends in a safe environment, away from the disruptive and inappropriate behavior of spectators. Please remember to be supportive, recognize good effort, teamwork and good sportsmanship, regardless of the game's outcome.
As mentioned above, our TRHC Zero Tolerance Policy also includes all of USA Hockey's and the Atlantic District's (AAHA), and requirements, rules, amendments, and policies in regard to Zero Tolerance as follows:
